Youth Centre Villa Elba coordinated an EVS project “EVS for Empowerment & Employment.
This project hosted 17 volunteers from different European countries.
This project aims to bring multiculturalism into the lives of children and youngsters with the help of international volunteers.
In the countryside and in small towns there is not many possibilities to get international contacts, so the volunteer helped local people to get these experiences in their own environment, and that way multiculturalism can be a natural part of the everyday life of children and young people.
During the project volunteers work with children and young people in youth houses and centres, schools, riding stable and Kokkotyö Foundation. Work activities where volunteers were in constant contact with the local people, supported in a natural way of intercultural learning and communication.
Volunteers were active members of the working community and were encouraged to promote their own culture and their own ideas.
Volunteers lived and worked under the same conditions as the locals and got a good picture so-Finnish daily life and culture.
The project is answered for the Erasmus + program priorities as we support the employment opportunities of young people by providing an opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills and new learning.
Through volunteering the participants gets new perspectives and opportunities to build their own future.
